Research

NICE promotes epilepsy research. At Northwell Health, we fund cutting-edge clinical research that has the potential to make an impact on the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. We also facilitate research by encouraging and funding multidisciplinary projects consistent with our mission of improving patient lives.

New Diagnostic Techniques

Northwell Health leads important National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded studies to investigate the role of new MRI techniques using the connectome to evaluate patients before surgery and to explore high resolution mapping of human cortical functions using micro EEG techniques.

Human Epilepsy Projects (HEP)

HEP is a multicenter, multiyear study of seizure prognosis and biomarkers. Northwell Health is the leading site for the HEP 2 study aimed at finding biomarkers that can predict outcome and response to treatment.

New Treatments for Epilepsy

Northwell Health is a pioneer in the discovery of new therapies. We are currently investigating several new compounds and devices that can treat patients with difficult to control epilepsy.
