Justin de la Garza shares photos and videos.
Justin has a growing freelance photography business, photosbyjustin.com, and has found success in photographing families, charity events and portrait shots. As a staff photographer for a premiere day camp, Justin has developed a special skill in engaging with children and capturing their best moments. He has an eye for unique perspectives in his work and especially loves revealing details and hidden beauty in street photography in New York and abroad.
For some years, Justin has been involved in teaching of elementary students as a teacher’s assistant in Scarsdale Schools and currently at a public gifted school in lower Manhattan. He has worked for Nature’s Classroom as an environmental educator, teaching full-day K to 8th grade classes about the environment and sharing his love of outdoor education. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in early childhood education at Bank Street College of Education.
In 2012 Justin was diagnosed with epilepsy in his senior year of high school. Justin greatly appreciates the help of family, friends, and Doctor Kuzniecky.
Justin recognizes that he is very fortunate that he is able to control his seizures through medication. Remembering to take his medication daily has been a struggle. After a seizure last year Justin implemented a disciplined process using both a pill-dispensing system with alarms and an app that reminds him and alerts family members.
Justin plans to continue to develop his photography skills and business and plans to be a certified elementary teacher by the fall of 2023.
